Lactobacillus Acidophilus LA85-a good helper in preventing diarrhea

Causes of diarrhea:

● Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 effectively inhibits intestinal pathogenic bacteria

In order to study the antagonistic effect of Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 on human pathogenic bacteria that cause diarrhea, Wecare Probiotics conducted relevant experiments. According to the research results, Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 has an inhibitory effect on most harmful intestinal bacteria. The opportunistic pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus have obvious inhibitory effects.

It can be seen from the above table that when the indicator bacteria concentration is 106 CFU/mL, Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 has a very strong inhibitory effect on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella, especially the strongest inhibitory effect on Escherichia coli. The diameter of the inhibition zone reaches 44mm. When the concentration of the indicator bacteria was adjusted to 108 CFU/mL, Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 still showed a strong inhibitory effect on the three pathogenic bacteria.

 

● Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 prevents or treats antibiotic-associated diarrhea (ADD)

For the associated diarrhea caused by antibiotic drugs, Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 also significantly alleviated antibiotic-associated diarrhea and significantly improved the lesions of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

Research shows that products with LA85 strain as the main functional ingredient can be specifically expressed in:

1. Significantly increased the body weight of mice with antibiotic-associated diarrhea;

 

2. Significantly reduced disease activity index in mice with antibiotic-associated diarrhea;

 

3. Increase the diversity of intestinal lactase in ADD mice;

 

4. Significantly increased SOD and GSH levels and reduced MDA levels in ADD mice;

5. Reduce the levels of serum pro-inflammatory cell inflammatory factors: TNF-ɑ, IL-1b and IL-6 in mice with antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

Therefore, there is good prospect for its use in the preparation of products for the prevention and/or treatment of antibiotic-associated diarrhea or antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

 

 

Major strains with high activity, high stability, strong colonization

● The highly active strain LA85 is resistant to gastric acid and bile salts

According to experiments, Lactobacillus acidophilus powder LA85 acts for 2 hours under simulated gastric acid pH 3.0 conditions, and the survival rate reaches 80%. After 2 hours of simulated bile salt concentration of 0.3%, the survival rate reached 85%. 

 

 

● Highly active strain LA85 features strong adhesion properties, strong intestinal colonization ability, and long shelf life

To further examine the adhesion properties of Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85, Caco-2 cells were selected as the research object. The results are shown in Figure 1. LA85 has good adhesion ability to Caco-2 cells, and the number of bacteria adhered to each cell exceeds 15, higher than the control strain LA-05.

At the same time, in terms of intestinal colonization performance, according to experimental data (Figure 2), Lactobacillus acidophilus strain LA85 has good colonization ability in the intestine.
