Dr. Frank Fang, founder of Wecare and Chief Scientist of Wecare Probiotics Research Institute, is a renowned probiotic expert with nearly 30 years of dedicated research in microbiology. Holding over 300 patents related to probiotic strains, he serves as a visiting professor at more than 20 universities and is a pioneer in the field of probiotics.
Wecare places great emphasis on technological innovation. The company dedicates 15% of its annual revenue to R&D, continuously introducing top-notch talent. Wecare Probiotics Research Institute boastsa R&D center, a pilot center, and a testing center—consisting a team of 230 researchers.
The R&D center comprises three sub-centers , seven research branches, and ten research platforms. It has developed five core Wec technology systems: WecLac® Probiotic strain function research technical system, WecTech® Probiotic strain stability technical system, WecSim® Large-scale intelligent manufacturing system, WecPro® Probiotic formulation technical system, and WecCul® Starter Culture technical system.
The R&D center has established academician workstations and postdoctoral research workstations, fostering collaborations with numerous academicians in the field. The center boasts a formidable expert team, including three specially appointed academicians , over 10% PhDs, and a master's degree-holding staff exceeding 60%. The research team has conducted nearly 300 clinical trials in collaboration with hospitals, published over a hundred SCI papers, and applied for more than 300 invention patents. The center also maintains a probiotic strain bank with over 40, 000 preserved strains.
With a pilot-scale platform ranging from 1.5L to 400L for fermentation, centrifugation, lyophilization, and formulation, the Engineering Technology Center provides a robust process engineering quality assurance system that supports the seamless transition from laboratory research to industrial production.
The testing center boasts five specialized analytical testing platforms, covering strain identification and community composition analysis, multi-dimensional cell quantification,
strain function and safety evaluation, probiotic stability testing, and finished product safety assessment.
Wecare has established four large-scale, intelligent production bases that comply with cGMP standards. With an annual production capacity exceeding 830 tons of probiotic powder, 200 tons of Bacillus coagulans powder, and 1000 tons of agricultural Bacillus coagulans powder, Wecare accounts for over 90% of China's probiotic powder production capacity, solidifying its position as a world-class supplier of probiotic powder raw materials.
